Confession
I did something so ridiculously stupid (and moderatly costly) that I need to get it off my chest. What better avenue that the inter-web-o-blog-o-net. Confession begins now:
Last night I was picking up a friend at the bus station. I was a bit frazzled because I didn’t know exactly where this bus station was located. He was guiding me in via phone, listing off landmarks to watch for. As I neared, I could see the “Coach USA” sign and a big parking lot. A big dimly lit parking lot, I might add. I was on a big road, so I slowed a bit as I signaled my turn into the parking lot. Problem: what I thought was the lot entrace–a plowed strip about 15′ wide, flanked by snow banks and a couple poles–turned out to be a curb. I realized this when I was about to hit said curb, traveling at roughly 30 miles per hour.
I don’t know if you have ever hit a curb going 30 mph, but it is not recommended. I lead with the left front wheel, and slammed into the curb, going up and over and onto a strip of grass. I continued over the grass and into the lot, where I parked and hopped out.
The tire was completely flat. Zero PSI. This was due to the 3″ hole in the side of the tire where it was pinched between curb and rim. Boy, did I feel stupid.
The good news was that my friend [who prefers to remain nameless on these pages] and I swapped the busted wheel with the spare in short order. Today I replaced the tire for $100. Ouch.
So there you have it. Mr. “I’m such a good driver, never been in an accident” anihilated a tire by sheer incompetance. Next time you see me, rub it in. I deserve it.

Me not dead
To: World
From: Tadfad
Although I haven’t put anything new on tadfad in a spell, I am still very much alive. And I intend on keeping things fresh in 2007. I’m just hitting a dry spell in my ability to write intelligent things. (Case in point: what you’re reading right now).
In the meantime, check out Shane’s awesome website from our college days. I still think that it’s one of the best sites ever.
