gadgets galore

Posted by mobile phone:
Apple did it again with a whole series of new iPods, in time for the holiday season. I just so happen to be in the market for a new iPod, after mine was jacked from my car. The big news is the iPod Touch, featuring a touchscreen interface just like the iPhone and a wifi radio for browsibg the nets and purchasing songs on the go.

I was so excited by the announcement that I ordered one the same day, only to be dissapointed by the expected month long wait for delivery. In the meantime, I got a new smartphone from work and have since reconsidered my purchase. In fact, I am composing this post from the little keyboard on my new phone just to see how typing feels. Now that I have this slick little device, I don’t really need an iPod that can go online.

To all you gadget freaks out there, what do you think? Is the larger screen alone worth the cost? Or should I go for the iPod classic and rock the huge hdd?

Tadfad! What phone did you get? I would think you might want to go for the ipod classic if you can get internet on this new phone – the only other advantage of the ipod touch is youtube functionality, and the itunes store on the go… but in reality, that’s not extremely useful. A huge hard drive I think would be better. just a though.

nevermind. I found the phone via flickr. looks pretty sweet.

Yeah, the phone’s okay. It’s kinda bulky, so I have to wear an ultra-dorky belt holster. But it does wi-fi and has a slide-out keyboard, so I like it.

    1. I think you should just get an iPhone.

2.But since you probably won’t do that, because your current smart phone was “free” or something like that, I would recommend the classic. I don’t think the touch is the way to go if you already have an internet (albeit waterdowned internet) capable smart phone.

    3. Why is tadfad now watered down on my iPhone? I don’t like it.

    4. Can you please post a picture of you wearing your cellphone holster?

    5. Anyone out there have any suggestions on what I should spend my $100 apple credit on?

ditto on the watered down version of tadfad — I need me some more CSS action. I’ll toss out a recommendation for the new nano — played with one this afternoon at the Madison apple store. I find that my 8 gig iPhone has more than enough memory for what I actually listen to. Shane- you should get Leopard when it comes out.

Regarding the new look on mobile devices–I installed a new mobile-wordpress plugin so that it would be easier to read on phones. I guess for you iPhoners, it’s not as nice anymore. Sorry. I’ll see if I can tweak it so that you still get the regular view.

Dillon, your prize is almost in the mail. China threw me off schedule.

I second the request for a picture of you wearing the phone holster.

  8. Dillon Says:

I’ll third the holster picture request, but with one caveat: I want it in animated GIF format. Thanks for the prize, Tad. I hope it’s a TAG Heuer Men’s Automatic Watch!

speaking of iphone – I’m glad I didn’t spend 600 on one a few months ago. That would have been totally n00bish and bandwagon-jumping-on-ish. Could have saved 200 bucks by waiting a couple months. What a steal.
